The holidays always sneak up on me. It's all my fault really, I tend to be a procrastinator and I save everything to do at the last minute. Don't be like me! Buy now, be ready now and use them later. Everyone has such great ideas to share on how they celebrate the holidays in their class.
Personally, I love Christmas! I work in an area where everyone celebrates Christmas which makes it easier. For the last two years, I've had an elf in room. I place an elf in the room and read to them the story Elf on a Shelf by Carol V. Aebersold and Chanda A. Bell. Then we talk about how we are going to have a special elf in our room until Christmas time and how the elf will report back to Santa every night.
Last year, I added to the fun by having the elf leave notes to the class. They ate them up!! They couldn't wait every morning to read their note from the elf!
Eventually, when our elf got comfortable with the kids he also got a little mischievous!
The hardest part for me was coming up with the notes each morning. So this year, I decided to help out teachers and have the notes ready for all of you!
I created a whole first day activity where the students read a note from Santa and get to name their elf! Then the rest of the days the class elf moves around the room and leaves a note for them!
Each note includes a fun idea of where to place the elf. The notes vary from day to day but the elf talks to the class about how to spread holiday cheer, fun facts about what happens in the North Pole all while leaving fun and cheerful messages!
Check out There's An Elf In Our Classroom! It will be 20% off for until Friday, November 7th!
Make sure to check out everyone else's holiday ideas!
