I finally have a few minutes to link up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade.
Disney music really does help put me in my "happy place"! As you keep reading… you'll see why I need a "happy place."
Here is the honest truth about my crazy week. I've really reached a point of exhaustion with my class. And if I am going to blame someone … (in a whisper) it's all my fault. I've felt unprepared all week. Each day, I come in just in time to teach, hardly have time to plan, piece together as I go, and leave right at the end of the day. It's a vicious cycle really; had a bad day so I just want to leave, but then I'm not prepared for the next day. Vicious. Cycle. I tell you.
And my kiddos… well let's say they can smell unpreparedness. Believe me… they can… they know… "Oh… she's not ready for us today?!" "We'll show her how dynamite and destructive … I mean distracted we can be. So as you can imagine I needed extra patience to make up for my lack of preparedness. And that patience was wearing thin by today (Friday.) Which now you know… why I'm so glad it is Friday.
To help me feel better… I want to go the Happiest Place on Earth…I mean it's called the Happiest Place on Earth after all…guaranteed happiness…. it will surely make this whole horrible week just melt away. Right? I mean good, old Walt must have had teachers in mind when he called it the Happiest Place on Earth. I'm stressed…I'm tired… I need a break… Disneyland is my golden ticket tonight. In case you're wondering, I have an annual pass. I live so close that I can see the fireworks show each night. I think, hubby and I will eat dinner at home and then head over for nice stroll and my favorite… the Fantasmic show!
If I really had it my way… I'd be starting Spring Break now. Alas, I must wait one more week. Boo. My fear is that next week will be like this week and that is no-bueno. I will surely gain about 1000 gray hairs if I repeat this last week. Which leads to what I need…
I need to plan out my next week down to a tee! No more getting the best of me. Uh-uh! I will be ready, prepared and gosh darn it, they will not drive me bonkers!
I haven't started a count down… but Farley got me thinking about the last day of school. It's still too far away for me… I mean June?June?June? I still have all of April and all of May… yes, too soon to think about it. Let's just get through next week… please.
That's all… if you stayed through this whole long winded post about my crazy week.. Please comment on tips you have on what I could try this week and into the end of the year to get my kiddos back on the learning train!

You haven't had spring break yet?!? Ours was about a week early this year {second week of March}, so it's going to feel like a loooonnngg time until our next break, which is Memorial Day. So... now that I think about it, maybe we should move spring break to a later date like y'all do... hmm. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm also WAY jealous of your early release in the afternoon. I'd LOVE to be "done" {in quotation marks because we all know most of us RARELY leave when we our contract time is over... sigh.} that early!!
Have a great week!
